Matt K. is the drummer for recently signed Nuclear Blast BOMBSHELL ALL SHALL PERISH. -He does all the pr work for this little bad out of Oakland, CA-if you love UNEARTH, AGNOSTIC FRONT, and SIX FEET UNDER-these boys with grab you by the throat. Read on.

MI: What is your birthday?

Matt: 7-24-84.

MI: Describe your music to me.

Matt: Hardcore influenced Death Metal.

MI: Who are the members of the band and what do they play?

Matt: Stan Orem on guitar, Chris Story on guitar, Craig Beaty on vocals, myself Matt Kikendoll on drums, and right now filling in for us we have Jeremy Cohen on bass but usually we have Michael Tiner on bass.

MI: How did the band get together?

Matt: We were all in different bands in the bay area and some of our bands toured together and we sick of all our other bands so we gutted them and put together All Shall Perish.

MI: Who are your musical influences?

Matt: When I was really young I liked Punk and Hardcore like 7 Seconds and Dead Kennedys and I also liked Johnny Cash and the Police and Queen. Of course I liked Slayer and other heavier bands.

MI: Tell us about the new CD.

Matt: Our CD that's coming out on Nuclear Blast is a rerelease of a CD that we put out in 2003 that never got fully promoted and Nuclear Blast decided that they wanted to put it out to the world.

MI: Compare All Shall Perish to Hatebreed.

Matt: As far as being different it's all really in the fast parts. If you look at Hatbreed's breakdowns and our breadowns there are a lot of similarities. The difference comes in the fastness Hatebreed has. We come from a more melodic metal background as opposed to a punk background which is where Hatebreed's fastness comes from.

MI: Tell us about the average day for you when you're not on the road.

Matt: I wake up late and get on my computer and do a bunch of bullshit and then I take my pitbull for a walk. After that I go to one of the many amazing restaurants in the Bay area and possibly go to school if I feel like it.

MI: Is there going to be a video for the album that's being rereleased?

Matt: On the new CD there's a live compilation music video for the opening track Destruction.

MI: What made you decide to become a musician?

Matt: My mom because she was really into music. I was always interested in music and I was a big fan but when it came to playing it I was really apprehensive and I tried a bunch of different instruments and some how drums just hit me, no pun intended.

MI: Who is your hero?

Matt: Rocco from Buttman. He's a pretty incredible guy.

MI: If you could open for anybody, who would it be?

Matt: Opeth.

MI: Where do you see the band 5 or 10 years from now?

Matt: Either broken up and laughing about all the shitty times we had on tour or playing a fucking stadium in front of thousands and thousands of people. It's gonna be one or the other, there's no middle ground on that one.

MI: What are some of the shittiest things you've seen on tour?

Matt: The entire city of Baltimore, Maryland. It's the shittiest ghetto fucked up city. The people that we met at the show and the venue are fucking great. As far as the average Joe crackhead walking down the street it's fucked up.

MI: If a genie granted you 3 wishes for the band what would they be?

Matt: World peace, Capitalism, and doughnuts for everybody.

MI: What do you think about Bush?

Matt: Pretty much the worst human being on the planet. When you talk about grand failures in life and utter chaos, it's pretty much him to a T.

MI: Do you see us getting out of this mess with Bush or not?

Matt: Not if he has anything to do with it, that's not his plan. His motivation has nothing to do with saving troops lives or getting out to a situation that any logical person would consider safe or better. His motivations come from all the people that bankroll him.

MI: Who would you compare yourself to musically as a drummer?

Matt: What made me want to play drums were people like Kevin Talley from Dying Fetus, Flo Mounier from Cryptopsy, and John Longstreth from Origin. All those drummers are way better than I'll ever be.

MI: If you could have lunch with anybody who would it be?

Matt: It would be a tie between FDR and Einstein.

MI: If you could be a comic book character who would you be?

Matt: Wonder woman since she has the wonder snatch.

MI: Have you ever inhaled?

Matt: Yes.

MI: Do you think marijuana should be legalized?

Matt: Heck yeah.

MI: How do your parents feel about your career?

Matt: If you could call this band a career then they would love it because my mom supports me in anything I do.

MI: Do you believe in psychics?

Matt: Yeah, I believe they exist but I don't know how truthful they are.

MI: Have you ever had a paranormal experience?

Matt: Something close tot that. Just those weird things that couldn't possibly be a coincidence.

MI: How did the death of Dimebag affect you?

Matt: It sucks any time you lose someone important in the music community. It hit all of us pretty hard. Our guitarist actually raised 5,000 dollars for the Abbott family by selling sweatshirts online.

MI: Do you think security in smaller clubs should be tightened up?

Matt: If someone wants to get a weapon inside a club to kill someone they're going to do it. Getting patted down at the door is usually a good idea and putting someone at the back door.

MI: Are you guys worried about playing small clubs now?

Matt: Not at all. Small clubs are our life.

MI: What was the worst job you've ever had?

Matt: Telemarketing.

MI: What do you want people to know about you?

Matt: I'm not single and not incredible.

MI: Tell us a joke.

Matt: What's better than having roses on your piano? Having tulips on your organs.

MI: Do you have a message for your fans?

Matt: We love you and come see us.

MI: If there was a movie about you who would play you and what would the theme song be?

Matt: Rock n Roll Never Felt So Good by Gwar and Gilbert Godfrey would play me.

MI: What is your favorite quote of all time?

Matt: If I started murdering people there would be none of you left.

MI: If you could bury someone live in cement who would it be?

Matt: Donald Rumsfield.

MI: What is the band's website?

Matt: www.AllShallPerish.com
