Dirty Rig, Rock Did It
Dirty Rig Rock Did It CD, DVD Review
Music Incider Magazine
Founded in 2003, Long-Island based Dirty Rig is Kory Clarke (vocals), Chas Banellis (guitar), Steve "Buckshot" Seabury (bass), and Dave Ardolina (drums).
Kory replaced the original singer, Ed Sebastian, and was discovered by Chas. Chas was at a bar and heard Kory, passed him a CD and asked him to audition for the band.
Rock Did It comes as a compilation not just with a CD, but also with a DVD. The 10-track CD includes: Suck It; Drunk Again; Just A Star; Dogs; Rock Did It; Hot Porno Star; Throw Down; Cities, Scenes & Thieves; If You See Kaye, and Pennslytucky.
When you hear the CD, you know this is a fucking hardcore NY rock band. Yeah, they throw some metal in there, but it's all rock. I would say the CD and videos should be promoted more.
When you're looking at the DVD, Rock Did It; Cities, Scenes & Thieves; Hitchhiker; Throw Down; GTO; and possibly Star Baby were performed at Live at the Continental in New York City. Suck It, which also appears on the DVD, was performed at Club Tundra in Syracuse.
The videographer did a fantastic job shooting the videos. Escapi must've hired one helluva person because the videos are obviously professional, not someone's friend. He knew what he was doing. He got them all live, perfectly clear, and didn't miss a moment of each band member's performance. This is one DVD that will be up with the collectibles in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with the band.
Not included on the DVD but on the CD were Drunk Again; Just A Star; Dogs; Hot Porno Star; If You See Kaye, and Pennslytucky.
The CD itself is very creative and I wish I could go through each track with you but as a New Yorker myself, I can understand where they're coming from. They're talking about the real world and also about sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll. And, they want to succeed.
If you are ever in the NY area, or if they're coming to your hometown, make sure you go see them. This is one band you don't want to miss. Otherwise, be sure to get their CD.
I would like to thank Carol Kay, their former PR from Kaos Productions, Steve Segal, from Escapi Music for sending me the CD. Escapi should know they have a powerhouse with Dirty Rig. This is one band that is so fine-tuned that it is arena ready. Even if they have to be an opener, they are ready. There is no fucking with these boys. They're gonna go for it and they're gonna get it.
